Shan George, veteran Nigerian actress has aired her view concerning the phrase “single mother”.
In an instagram post, Shan George made it clear that to her, there is no such thing as a single mother; the only thing in existence is a mother without the single attached to it.

She ended her clarification post by saying society constantly look for ways to make people feel small about themselves.
No woman is a SINGLE MOTHER. There's Mother and There's FATHER. Simple. Society is always looking for words to use for pple to feel Small and Inadequate about themselves.

A handful of social media users disagreed with Shan George’s opinion while some agreed and applauded her philosophy.
There are single mothers and single fathers ma’am, I get the point but how you react to people’s use of it is entirely your decision. I am a single mother of an amazing daughter and there’s nothing demeaning or shameful about it.
