PANDEMONIUM IN NIGER STATE AFTER BANDIT ATTACK
Early hours of Friday, a soldier and a civilian were killed in a fight led by a deadly Islamist group in the hot-zone Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The government of DR Congo had carried out a military operation in the North Kivu and Ituri provinces since the 6th of May, in order to force the militants in the country to surrender their nefarious activities.
According to an army spokesman in the Kivu city of Beni, two civilians were killed by enemy bullets and one died instantly. He also said that during the course of the fight, a soldier was also killed.
The United States stated that the Allied Democratic Group (ADF) is connected to the Islamic State group, which is considered the deadliest militant group in that region.
In the course of the fight that took place in the east of Beni, ADF fighters burnt down 10 vehicles on Wednesday and Thursday.
The government thereafter, restricted movement between the hours of 8am to 4pm on the road which connects North Kivu, Ituri and Tshopo provinces, for fear of further occurrence.
