The world's oldest conjoined twins, Donnie and Ronnie Galyon dies at age 68. Their deaths were announced on USA's independence day, Saturday, 4th July, 2020 by their brother Jim.
Before their deaths, the conjoined twins who were joined together at the abdomen were reported to have suffered from arthritis.
The Galyon twins made history for themselves after they surpassed the ages of Chang and Bunker in 2014, the world's first rcognized conjoined twins.
Donnie and Ronnie also surpassed previous record-holders - Giacomo and Giovanni Battista Tocci. The Galyon twins were so glad about their achievement such that Ronnie said:
It’s what me and Donnie’s always dreamed about, and we hope to get the ring, because we had dreamed about getting this since we were kids.
In 2010, about 200 people from their neighborhood were said to have volunteered to help build an extension to Jim’s residence so that both twins can live more comfortably.
Ronnie and Donnie lived with Jim and his wife Mary in Beavercreek for about 10 years. Here, Jim's family took care of the twins.
Jim said:
I am thankful to the neighborhood for what they did in assisting Donnie and Ronnie move into their residence. This permitted them to live with their relatives for the past 10 years.
John Harkleroad, the project manager for the extension, said in 2010:
It’s been inspiring to see how many hundreds of people have stepped up the plate and donated materials. I’ve seen the best part of humanity.
According to a local media report, the twins were an important part of the Beavercreek neighborhood.
