D'banj, a legendary Nigerian musician who is popularlarly acclaimed as Koko master and Ejanla celebrates his 40th birthday today June 9, 2020.
D'banj who coined his stage name from his real names (Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo) was born on June 9, 1980. He acclaims himself to be an entertainer and a business man outside music.
D'banj became a global icon after he dropped 'Oliver twist', a massive track released in the summer of 2012. Oliver twist was among the top UK singles hit songs in 2012. It peaked at the 2nd position on the UK R&B chart.
However, the Koko master parted ways with Mo'hits records which was co-founded with Don Jazzy after they first met in the UK. Before both parted ways, D'banj had made contract agreement to be signed under Kanye West's GOOD music in 2011.

D'banj bagged home several musical awards, including an award for Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards, 2007. He was also the Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards, 2009 and Best African International Act, 2011 at BET Awards. D'banj was the best-selling African Artist at the 2014 World Music Awards followed by an Evolution award which he won at 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards.

The Koko master is currently married to Lineo Didi Kilgrow, with both having a son, after they had lost their firstborn son who drowned in their home pool in 2018.
